Prior to the show, the crowd wrapped around the outside of the building as eager fans awaited the show. Indie garage rock band, Archer Oh, kicked off the show. The band consists of Archie Medrano on vocals and guitar, Diego Jacuinde on lead guitar, Juan Cabrera on bass, and Pedro Hernandez on drums. Archer Oh wowed the crowd with their high energy sound that mixes garage and surf rock influences. During the span of their six song set, the crowd got increasingly more behind the band. Lead singer Medrano entranced those in attendance with his raw style and moves which struck a fine balance between frenetic and fluid. Their set concluded with a raucous ovation from the crowd.

Headlining the show was alternative rock band, Dogstar. The band, which was formed in 1991, recently reformed after a long hiatus. Touring on the back of their most recent album, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, the band brought an energetic, and crowd pleasing performance to Grand Rapids.

Bret Domrose of Dogstar

The band consists of Bret Domrose on guitar and vocals, Keanu Reeves on bass, and Robert Mailhouse on drums. The show opened with “Blonde,” a song about finding reprieve from loneliness. The song’s driving melody and a chorus characterized by the soaring falsetto vocals of Domrose were a great way to kick off the show.

Their set continued with popular tracks, such as “Everything Turns Around,” “How the Story Ends,” and “Glimmer.” Much to the surprise (and delight) of the crowd, the band also debuted several new tracks that they confirmed will appear on their new album (despite just dropping their most recent album in 2023). The crowd really seemed to get behind the new tracks.
