Firefly Fusion Performs at Summit Music Hall
Levi Brown (@will_bithers) shared a rich musical journey, starting with a childhood memory of
learning “Lean on Me” on the piano from their uncle at the age of 5. The fusion of influences
from classic rock, grunge, and diverse artists like REO Speedwagon and Lauryn Hill shaped their
early years. In 4th grade, they embraced orchestra, playing upright bass, and later explored the
vibrant 90s rock scene.
Fast forward to their teenage years, where a love for rock and metal led to forming a band,
playing in notable venues like the Newport, and diving into genres like death metal, metalcore,
and deathcore. The juxtaposition of this intense musical exploration with their involvement in
the high school orchestra, where they excelled as 1st chair but eventually pulled back due to
pressure, highlights the complexity of their musical journey.
Jazz band introduced them to influential figures like Herbie Hancock and Duke Ellington, yet
their passion for metal shows took precedence. Reflecting on high school, the artist expressed
regrets about quitting music related to school, citing a mix of exhaustion and attendance issues.
This diverse and layered musical background, marked by familial influences, classical training,
and a love for rock and metal, creates a unique narrative for the artist. Their journey, filled with
highs and regrets, serves as a compelling backdrop for exploring the band’s evolution and
identity.
